The Advantages Of Using A Floor Paint Or Stain
There are many different types of stains and paints for concrete, but it’s important to learn a few things about both before beginning any kind of do-it-yourself project with either.
Concrete stain and epoxy floor paint are made up of a mixture of acids and mineral salts. The acids react with the concrete and allow the coloration in the mineral salts to work into the concrete. Because of this, the stains will react differently with different forms of concrete. Depending on the composition of the concrete you may be able to see natural color variations across the area that is being stained. This can add to the natural appearance of the stained concrete and help it more closely resemble natural stone or clay.
The range of colors available with concrete stains is mostly limited to natural colors. This can be good if you are looking for a more natural appearance but not as good if you are interested in strong or vibrant colors. There are new products being brought out however which offer more vibrant and intense shades of orange, purple, red and yellow. It all depends on which mineral salts you are using in your staining mixture.
