Perfume Review: Celebration for Him by Esprit
Celebration for Him by Esprit was launched in 2008 together with a line of young clothing that celebrated the 40 years of the brand on the market. Both the masculine and feminine versions have the same shape of theĀ bottle, a very simple cylinder, with a square tap with rounded angles. The official notes for the edition for Him are pineapple, bergamot, marine notes, lavender, rosemary, geranium, musk, cedar, amber and tonka beans.
The opening has cold notes, with a distinct marine note mixed with geranium and light notes of lavender. The overall feeling is close to the idea if sage, but not excessively bitter, and similar to the fresh breeze opening of Aqua di Gio perfume by Giorgio Armani. In the middle phase, the aroma is more stable, with marine salted notes, but far from traditional calone, complemented by lavender, and with an intense herbal note between mint and rosemary, which is what gives the bitter tones. At times there are deep notes if geranium, similar to a dark and spicy juniper. In the final phase, the marine tone and the metallic green are softer, evolving into a spicy lavender, with bitter orange in the background.
Although the fragrance follows the young and relaxed style of Esprit, the general idea is one of a deodorant for a daily use, with a green and sour aroma. All in all, given the special occasion of the 40th anniversary on the market, a little more effort could have been put in the making of the fragrance. The strong side are the spicy notes which, mixed with a base of water remind of perfumes like Davidoff Cool Water or One Million Paco Rabanne. In the office it will be intense without being intrusive, whereas in romantic situations the bitter marine aroma could be at times a little monotonous and therefore counterproductive.
