Locating Houses for Rent to Own

It is a fairly safe assumption that most homeowners with a home to sell would rather sell in the conventional manner rather than offer their home for rent to own.  Getting their profit out of their home and moving on is very attractive.  This is why a few years ago when the real estate market was doing well it was almost impossible to find rent to own homes listings.  If you did find a rent to own home, there was very little chance that the contract terms were going to work in your favor.

Because so few people qualify for a mortgage in today’s market, this situation has changed quite a bit.  In order to avoid having to make payments on multiple homes at once, more sellers are willing to consider this option.  If the home owner is not currently living in the home, this is especially true.

Although many sellers would consider this option, few think to advertise their home in this manner. This can make it challenging to find rent to own homes in some markets.  It can take some work to go through homes that are listed for sale or rent and determine which owners are also open to rent to own.

Because this can be so time consuming, many people are instead working with rent to own homes companies.  If you are uncomfortable with the idea of calling up numerous home owners and letting them know you would like to buy their home but do not qualify for a mortgage, this can be a good alternative.

Of course, you need to make sure that what you are expecting is realistic.  It is not always possible to find the perfect home for the perfect price.  You should not expect to get the same type of price discount you might be able to get if you were able to get financed today.
