How to Keep Your Dog in One Place

Imagine this: you have just arrived from work and you would really like to lie down on your couch. But upon nearing the sofa, you find one of your dogs lounging away peacefully in it. You try to shoo it off but you only get growled at. You then proceed to your bedroom with an intention of reclining on your bed when you see your other pet canine sleeping soundly on top of it. You get the same treatment when you try to coax it off your bed. And imagine this: you allow your pet to wander freely inside the house, that you do not mind where it is going. Then one day it ends up in a room wherein you have stored some cleaning chemicals. One sniff of the agent and your dog is off to the hospital for treatment.

The aforementioned scenarios could happen in reality, but you would also be able to prevent them. If you have problems with your pet sleeping anywhere it likes, then you might want to set up its very own bed. You could build one by using a box or a basket, and covering it with a blanket. If your pet is still a puppy, you could just use a large enough pillow. On the other hand, you could purchase a premade bed from certain brick and mortar retailers or from the Internet. If your pet is old enough to be let outside, you could get it its own dog house.

Even though you would like to give your pet as much freedom as any other member of the family, you could not deny the fact that there are some places wherein it should not be allowed. If you would like to limit the places where your dog has access to without denying it freedom, then you could just place dog gates inside the house. In fact, you would not need dog gates per se; even a baby gate would be able to do the job, and it would be less expensive, too.
