How to Choose the Perfect Collar for Your Dog

Dogs come in many personalities just as their owners do. There are those with perky, spunky charisma and there are those with a slow, lazy charm about them. Each dog is their own so it is only fitting that their collars match who they truly are just as we choose certain clothes to reflect who we are. Choosing one for your dog is simple and should convey both the dog and the owner’s preferences in individuality.

The first step is to sum up who your dog is. This does not necessarily always depend on the size of the dog. Your dog may be small, fluffy, and named Fee-Fee but this does mean that she needs a pink, diamond encrusted collar. In fact, Fee-Fee may have the personality of a bull dog; strong and loyal and somewhat striking. She might just need a spiked dog collar.

Spiked dog collars are traditionally shown on larger breed dogs as a sign of ferocity. They can be seen on guard dogs and ‘junk yard dogs’. Since these collars are often associated with dogs such as these, spiked dog collars have gained themselves a bad-boy reputation and perhaps this is what has garnered them such popularity among dog owners.

Small dogs such as chihuahuas today are seen wearing spiked collars and in stead of a sense of fear evoked in the viewer, it is now a sense of hilarity at such a small dog wearing a collar that traditionally holds a meaning of terror.

Spiked dog collars now find themselves on dogs of all sizes but with the personalities of those with a ‘bad boy’ reputation from a frisky chihuahua to a protective rottweiler.

These dog collars now hold both the meaning of the sternness of the stereotypical guard dog to that of a small dog who thinks they are ten times the size they really are! Find more interesting info on dog collars at Some Dog Collars.
