Finding a replacement laptop power supply
There is a misconception that when replacing your laptop power, the best laptop power supply must be purchased from the company who manufactured your laptop. That is just not the case. Many universal power supplies will work. For example, you can get a 90w universal car notebook adapter for around $20 on the web. The universal power adapters are now coming with adapter tips, which can be used for almost any laptop. Another great bonus of these universal adapters is they will power most mobile devices, not just laptop computers; devices such as an mp3 player, PDA, or DVD player.
Something to think about also is the purchase of refurbished laptop power supplies. Most people do not look at these as good products, but in all actuality, most often their just as good as new. Many companies depreciate their computers and simply sale their old equipment to online retailers who can then turn around and sale them as refurbished.
It pays to do your research when looking into either a replacement or a backup laptop power supply. Another good resource is your local computer store. Not the big-box stores either, we are talking about the two guys around the corner that sale and repair computer and networking solutions. Often times they get a computer/laptop which they cannot repair yet has a perfectly good power supply.
