There are several steps that the government has been taking, to deal with the shortage of people with CNA training. Such people with CNA training are considered essential workers in the healthcare system. They are the people who actually take care of patients as the patients undergo treatment (because the doctors and professional nurses have to be involved in the design and implementation of treatment plans).Therefore, it becomes difficult for the doctors and nurses to also get involved in feeding patients, cleaning wards, dressing patients and so on; hence the need for CNAs to do all those things.

Initially, the said subordinate roles in the healthcare system could be undertaken by pretty much everybody who was willing to do them. But, at some point, it was discovered that there was a need for the people undertaking them to be specially training, and thence was CNA training born. That requirement drastically cut the numbers of people who could undertake such subordinate work in the healthcare system, leading to a shortage.

Now one of the steps that the government ahs been taking, to deal with the shortage of people with CNA training is that of providing more financial aid to people willing to pursue such CNA training.
