Birth Control for Acne Treatment
Birth control can be an affective way of preventing acne and curing current acne breakouts. When someone takes birth control it suppresses some of their hormones to stop the reproductive cycle. However, this reduction in hormones also slows down the production of oils in the skin reducing bacteria growth. Less bacteria growth equals cleaner skin and less acne. It generally takes about three months for cleaner skin to start showing up. Of course the side effects can be pretty nasty including facial hair growth, gall stones, diabetes, breast cancer, livor tumors, and vaginal bleeding. Yeah, that nasty. I’d rather let the acne get bad and get acne scar removal later. However, if you’re taking birth control anyways then what a nice bonus side affect for the skin.
