Become Free of Debt With a Credit Card Debt Settlement
Credit card debt settlement is an effective way to resolve a debt problem. Reaching an agreement with your creditors, one by one, is satisfying and helps to improve your money management.
How do you do it? First, you need to know how much cash you can afford to pay out monthly to each creditor. To do this, pull out your checking account statement of account, credit card statements, receipts and the like. Jot down on paper or using a spreadsheet like Open Office or Excel, list your income and expenses for the past 2-3 months. Also consider occasional bills like insurance, gas or electric that you might not have paid out for in the last month or two, but that will come due soon and so should be included in your spending plan. Work out what you have spare each month.
Next, look at your expenses and see where you can make prudent cuts around the edges. Snip snip! Do you buy a lot of glossy magazines? Developed an expensive book buying habit but never have time to read the books you already own? Groceries are a big weekly expense. Take a close look there. You will often find that you buy a lot of expensive branded products and these could be replaced with the supermarket brand instead. You often will not notice the change, you have simply gotten used to buying the fancy brand, but you could save up to 30% on your groceries bill with smart shopping. Or do you have things you can list on Amazon, Ebay or Craigslist and raise some quick easy cash?
Now that you have more cash to offer monthly as a credit card debt settlement, place that call to the company. Stay focused on your task. Only offer the maximum you can afford and not a dollar more. See if they will cut the balance down by removing built up interest and charges. And be prepared to persevere because you might get turned down the first time. It is worth it.
