Are Snake Boots Really Necessary?
While no sane person wants to get bitten by a venomous snake, there is some degree of controversy over snake boots. Part of the reason for this is that there are people who believe that a regular pair of boots are enough protection against a snake bite. There are huge arguments over this contention, but there is no argument that snake proof boots are specifically designed to err on the safe side and to make sure no snake is going to get through.
But are snake proof boots a good investment, or are they a waste of money? It can depend a lot on situation. If you live in a swampy area in the South that is renowned for being infested swampland, then a good pair of swamp snake boots is probably an exceptionally good idea and a safe investment. However, in a place like Iowa even though there are venomous snakes, they are very rarely stumbled upon and are pretty much never seen in a town or city. So someone in that setting is probably fine without any.
To some people, snake boots appear like an expensive luxury. In some cases that might even be the case, but along the lines of better safe than sorry, many people have found that if snake boots aren’t technically a necessity, they really are a great peace of mind in snake infested areas. And for many hunters, campers, and hikers, that’s more than enough to warrant a few extra bucks.
