Accenting a Garden Using Spot Lights

Some gardeners have what it takes to create a lush, thriving garden, but others simply can’t get past their brown thumbs. If you do happen to have a few prominent plants which are thriving, then you have more to work with that you know. Gardeners with this dilemma can use outdoor light fixtures to highlight and draw focus to these successes. By pointing lights on your strongest plants, you can draw attention to your best work. This methodology works for both small and large gardens. To begin accenting your garden with lights, you must first seek out a set of solar spot lights.

While there are many types of garden lights, it is a good idea to set the groundwork with a solid set of solar spot lights. I like to work with solar varieties because you don’t have to do any underground wiring. Many spot light sets come with colored filters which can change the hue of the beam from basic white to blue, green or red. To determine how many spot lights you will need, walk through your garden and select your best plants. You want to spread out your selection, as too many spot lights in one area can be overpowering.

After selection, place a spot light at the base of each plant and direct the beam upward. You will have to fine tune the angle at night when you can actually see the beam. Don’t worry about switching on each light at night- these kinds turn on by themselves. Spot lights create a tight beam of light which is large enough to cover a single item. The beams of solar spot lights are not as powerful as wired ones but can still make an impact. Try adjusting the light until you find the right distance and angle for your plant.

To grow plants indoors, you will need a special type of fixture called an led grow light. Check out this led grow light review for more information on how to take your gardening indoors.
